Cloth: What is your favorite item of clothing and why?
Samantha: My favorite item of clothing is a comfortable pair of jeans. I grew up in Southern California, and everyone wears jeans—it’s just a way of life there. It’s a versatile item of clothing because you can dress it up or down.
Cloth: Describe a typical day in your life?
Samantha: I get up around 7 am to get ready for work and leave my apartment a little past 9 am to make it to the office in Roppongi. I work part time for the online shop for Japanese clothing brand Le Ciel Bleu, and I model their clothes and help maintain the website. I get home around 8:30 pm, where I eat dinner, unwind, work on my blog or any translation work that I may have. On weekends, I teach English, meet with friends, do photo shoots for my blog, etc.
Cloth: What are some of your current fashion obsessions?
Samantha: I love monotone styles – although I do love color, I am most drawn to simple looks with an edge. I also love cropped tops! Can’t ever have enough of those in my wardrobe.
Cloth: What vintage trend do you wish would come back in style?
Samantha: I wish Mary-Janes would come back in style – I saw an old photograph of my great-grandmother wearing Mary-Janes when she was in her teens, and she just looked so classy and beautiful.
Cloth: What is your favorite hidden gem source of great clothing?
Samantha: I think in this generation, the world of blogging is a great source to find new brands of clothing, and even styling ideas for particular pieces of clothing. I hope to be a source of fashion inspiration for others with my blog.
